I spend most of the summer in sandals like this, and have too many pairs, mostly Gumbies which I love. These Helly sandals are very smart looking, but are looks over function. The sizing is a bit of the small size, so your feet are right on the edge of the sole all the way around, meaning any small stones you flick up are likely to go under your feet. The toe separator is very odd, being way too big and also not properly aligned to the rest of the sandal so your foot tends to rotate across the sole. I found the my heel coming down off the edge of the sole and I was constantly twisting my foot to keep them lined up properly. The sole itself is very thin and not very padded. All up, they are just not very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. For plodding about the poolside or along the promenade they will do, but not much more than that. If, like me, you spend most of your day wearing sandals then you'll get annoyed with them quite quickly. They look very smart though. The red and the grey looks very stylish and grown-up and they certainly won't look out of place in a beach side grill or on the deck of a boat. You just won't want to walk very far in them.Whichever size you decide, make sure free returns are available. There are other sellers on this page and they may not offer that service. These were delivered just in time for the hottest days of the year! The size was right for me, but I sit right in the middle of my size bracket, upper or lower end and you may need a return (hence checking for free returns). The sandals are comfortable to wear, but the heels are not the most cushioned. I found them OK, but it is something you may need to consider if you are of a portlier or musculature nature. The toe separator is a little wider than I am used to and this took some breaking in as it felt wide, but as the material softened and shaped to my toes, it became a lot more comfortable. If you are getting these for a holiday, it may be worth breaking them in before you go.Finally, these are very casual sandals and ideal for meandering around the garden, beach, pool or souvenir shops on the sea front. You are not going to want to walk miles in these, but to be fair, they are not for that purpose. The grip is perfect on dry surfaces, but as with any footwear, care needs to be taken on wet polished surfaces.I have liked the nautical style of Helly Hansen clothing for years. Perhaps it's the Norwegian origins that make the styling a little different?I really like these Helly Hansen Men's Berge Viking Platform shoes (trainers?). Reminiscent of the deck shoe style, the mesh canvas upper is quite thick and they feel very comfortable and supportive on your feet. The advert says they are a medium width but although I like a wide fitting I ordered a 9.5 instead of my usual size 9 and they feel really good and fit well. Take note of the fitting information given in the advert. Very stylish in appearance, they have an EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate) insole which absorbs the pressure of your footfall to give you a very comfortable walk. They also have rubber non slip soles. There is a very faint scent of rubber which I'm sure will soon wear off and would be perfectly normal. They are not waterproof. I like the HH detail on the tongue and heel. Perfect for the summer holidays!I thought the price looked similar to other shoes of this quality and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to you.I do like these shoes from Helly Hansen. They are well made using premium materials. My only concern is the sizing. I normally take UK size 10 shoes, and using the instructions provided and the sizing table (my feet are 28cm long) it seems I should use size 9? Yet even though I actually ordered and received a size 10.5 these are quite snug to my feet in respect of being quite narrow! Length is fine though. After loosening the laces these trainers do fit well and are very comfortable. The soles grip most surfaces very well indeed, and I find my feet do not get too hot even with extended wearing. Certainly this is a quality product and I feel they could be worn all day with no issues as they do give me good support.I do like that that these are quite understated in appearance and not an example of 'blingy' sportswear. They are just a lovely item to wear.I've always been a Vans man but really like these shoes from HH. They're comfortable, a bright, vibrant and striking colour (in red) and aren't too heavy. The rubber edging is reinforced at all the right places (where they bend at the toe) and there were no loose threads. Tread is great and the shoe has a nice amount of bounce. The white rubber will of course scuff up and get pretty dirty (unless you're uber careful) and the material of the upper isn't built for strength being quite meshlike in quality. This makes them quite a cool shoe (in terms of temp) but prob best not to go too far off the asphalt if you want them to last. Really like these shoes and the fit for length was good. They're quite a narrow style, so if you've got wide feed definitely worth trying before buying if possible.
